Artist Development

Most of the sessions I do are Artist Development: regular sessions with new artists who are trying to build careers as DJ Producers.

Aim

Becoming a professional DJ Producer is not something you can shortcut. It takes a long time and the only way to achieve real success is to be as good as the competition.

Success So Far

In 2022 the artists I am working with had over 30 tracks signed on some of the best labels in their respective scenes. See below for more details.

The Process

We start by building a body of work to identify who you are as an artist. Once we feel you are ready, we will start to plan how to get your music out released.

Who it is for

One-to-one learning may not be the cheapest but it is the fastest way to learn. It is perfect for those with other life commitments such as a full-time job.

Why it works

Strict quality control:  I ensure all of your creative output is of industry standard and no time is wasted on weak material.  Also, having two people invested in your success helps to encourage the necessary time commitment required.

How it works

I work on an hourly rate, no-strings attached.  For my regular students I give quick out-of-hours feedback free of charge.

History

It all has been completely organic.  I started doing sessions a few years back when I was studying my masters, now I do them alongside other projects I am working on.  My regulars all started with one session and decided to keep going.

PRICING

£40 per hour for sessions that are 2 hours and above.  For shorter sessions please enquire.

Getting Started

Just fill in the contact form at the bottom of the page and arrange a consultation call where we will discuss where you are at and your long term goals.  Once the sessions start we will determine the best way of working to for your needs.

FACE-TO-FACE

My home studio is half an hour from central London.

REMOTE

I do about half my sessions over Zoom using screen sharing.

Beginner Level

The majority of my students I have taken on as absolute beginners. The first stage is all about learning the technology, followed by the full production process and settling into a productive way of working.

Intermediate Level

Once you start finishing tracks it is time to start thinking about who you are as an artist and nailing down your sound.  We will then start building up a body of music and planning your first release.

Advanced Level

My role for advanced students is making sure all their output is release ready. Working on that last 10% that gets the tracks across the line and strategising what direction they are heading as an artist.

Success in 2022

  • 5 artists had debut releases
  • 30+ tracks released in total
  • 2 artists had Beatport Releases Chart #1s
  • Every artist charted highly in Beatport Genre charts
  • One release was on the #1 label in the artist’s scene (re Beatstats)
  • DJ support from some of the biggest DJs in the world
